1. Volunteer Service Notice

CrisisComms is operated entirely by volunteers who are committed to helping communities during emergencies and natural disasters. While we strive to provide accurate, timely, and helpful information, we cannot guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of all content posted on this platform.

This platform is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. We make no representations about the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness, or accuracy of the information, services, or related graphics contained on the platform.

2. Limitation of Liability

By using CrisisComms, you acknowledge and agree that CrisisComms, its operators, volunteers, contributors, and affiliated organizations shall not be held liable for any damages, losses, injuries, or consequences arising from:

  • Use or inability to use the platform
  • Inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information
  • Delayed updates or technical issues
  • Actions taken based on information provided on the platform
  • User-generated content or third-party information
  • Any interruption or cessation of service

This limitation applies to all claims, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and whether or not CrisisComms has been informed of the possibility of such damage.

3. User Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for verifying all information through official channels and emergency services. CrisisComms is intended to supplement, not replace, official emergency communication channels such as:

  • Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM)
  • Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF)
  • Jamaica Fire Brigade
  • Local parish councils and emergency services

In case of emergency, always contact official emergency services first (dial 119 or 911).

4. User Conduct

By using this platform, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information
  • Not post false, misleading, or malicious content
  • Respect the privacy and dignity of others
  • Not use the platform for illegal activities
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Data Privacy

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Personal information is collected and handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We implement reasonable security measures but cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.

6. Intellectual Property

Content posted by users remains the property of the respective users. By posting content, you grant CrisisComms a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute the content for the purpose of operating the platform and helping communities during emergencies.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Users will be notified of significant changes and may be required to accept updated terms to continue using the platform.
